Silly me left the house with water for each of my children and none for me...by the time we reached the Missions I was begging for a bottle of water. The farmer's market is mostly in the shade but the heat...it's just dog gone hot out there!
We took our 65 pounds of squash and zukes and headed to the downtown farmer's market today. As always, the growers were full of smiles. There are dogs (bear and pepper), people chatting, flowers, veggies and fruit. I enlisted one of the grower's son named William to help me carry the bags of goodies collected while I attempted to keep up with my three kiddos.
We gathered roughtly 50 lbs of produce from four growers!!! Cucumbers, tomatoes, squash, swiss chard and okra! Rex is pictured above...he always has some good stuff to donate.
I say roughly because as mentioned above, it was hot. I have a scale in our car but at this point I just wanted to drop of the goodies and get some hydration for my red cheeks.
Thank you to our growers! YOU are making a difference.
Thanks to the missions for the bottles of gatorade and h2o. ;)
P.S. I forgot to mention last week that a bag of processed venison was donated by the Fletcher family. Ben "harvested" the yummy meat! Thanks, Ben!
